Manfred Susunkewa was born in 1940 at Second Mesa on the Hopi Reservation. He is a distinguished Hopi artist known for his multifaceted contributions to Native American Art. His extensive education includes studies at Haskell Indian School, Santa Fe Indian School, Institute of American Arts and more. This diverse academic background fostered his development as a commercial artist, Katsina carver fabric artist, weaver, ceramist, sculptor, and painter. 

Susunkewa played a pivotal role in the revival of traditional “Old Style” Katsina doll carving. His works have been featured in numerous exhibitions, and he is a regular participant of the Heard museum’s Annual Katsina Doll Marketplace.
