MOUNTAIN LION TOHO KACHINA DOLL BY KEVIN SEKAKUKU (HOPI)
Kevin Sekakuku is an award winning carver who was born in 1977 in Tuba City, AZ. He is a member of the Sun Clan and was raised in the village of Kykotsmovi on the Hopi Reservation. He was taught by three of his uncles and began carving at the age of seven. He now lives in Phoenix, AZ.
"The Mountain Lion Kachina appears at Pachavu times as does the Wildcat Kachina. When he carries yucca whips in his hand, he would be one of the Angry or Watching Kachians. He may appear in the Mixed Kachina Dance with either Deer or Antelope Kachinas whom he leads for he is always in the front and is never caught. In this role he is a side dancer for the Deer or Antelope and carries a talavaiyi, a cane with eagle feathers and red horsehair fringe, in his hands." Kachinas by Barton Wright

Katsina dolls are fragile by nature and may be broken in transit. We do our best to pack them efficiently and carefully, however due to their fragility, transit damage is unavoidable in some cases. Please keep this in mind when purchasing katsina dolls online for shipping. Luckily, katsina dolls do not decrease in value when repaired and can usually be repaired in the comfort of your home using a mixture of wood and super glue for smaller, clean breaks. For more extensive repairs from transit damage, see our returns page or store for details.
