This catalogue accompanies Kay WalkingStick / Hudson River School, an exhibition which sets landscape paintings by the renowned, contemporary Cherokee artist Kay WalkingStick in conversation with classic works from the New-York Historical Society’s collection of 19th-century Hudsson River School Paintings. The artistic dialogue spotlights how WalkingStick’s work both connects to and diverges from the Hudson River School tradition and explores the agency of art in shaping humankind’s relationship to the land. The catalogue is a full-color, 56-page publication. It reproduces all works on view in the exhibition and features a conversation between WalkingStick and exhibition curator Nalani E. Ikemoto.
Forward by Louise Mirrer, President and CEO, introduction and catalogue by Wendy Nalani E. Ikemoto, (Native Hawaiian), Senior Curator of American Art, New-York Historical Society.
