Troy Sice is a third-generation Zuni carver. He is the grandson of George Chee Chee and the nephew of Ramie and Miguel Haloo and half-brother to Colvin Peina. He creates contemporary carvings with traditional materials, especially antler, and intricately inlaid stone.
The bear is one of the 6 protective or healing animals and is the protector of the west (direction of the Home, waters, and evening). Bears are especially considered to have curative powers.
