Sterling silver ring by Norbert Peshlakai (Navajo)
Norbert Peshlakai was born in 1953 at Fort Defiance, Arizona and grew up on the Navajo Reservation in Colorado. He first studied silversmithing at Haskell Indian Junior College in Lawrence, Kansas and was awarded a Southwest American Indian Arts Fellowship in 1980. He has been an active silversmith since 1972 and is credited with innovating silver pots and jars shaped like pottery.
