Chippewa Beadwork notecards pack
"When the weather was cool, men and women from the Chippewa tribe traditionally wore long leather leggings decorated with quills or beads and fastened with leather thogns. The most populous of American Indian tribes, the Chippewa (also called Ojibwa and Anashinaabe) have long lived in the areas north of lakes Huron, Michigan, and Superior; since the eighteenth century, many have made their homes in Ontario and Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, and other northern states."
The Chippewa transitioned, after the arrival of Europeans, from stone and bone beads on leather to colorful glass beads stitched to fabric, which these examples from the Museum of International Folk Art represent.
