Stetson Honyumptewa was born in 1959 at Moenkopi on the Hopi Reservation in Arizona. He has been carving since 1971. He currently lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Mongwu, the Great Horned Owl Kachina, represents a warrior who disciplines the clowns when their behavior becomes too out of control.
This Owl Kachina doll won Second Place in its division at the Heard Museum Guild 2010 Indian Fair and Market Best of Show. Stetson won Best of Show at the 2010 Santa Fe Indian Market.
