Mahve "Hand Runner" miniature Kachina Doll by Ed Seechoma (Hopi)
Ed Seechoma was born in 1974 and is from Hotevilla Village on the Hopi Reservation in Northern Arizona and is a member of the Rabbit Clan. He epitomizes the best in both traditional and contemporary carving, using traditional methods and materials, including using only natural pigments for coloring and carving with old horseshoe files. His brother Arthur and his son Robert are also carvers.
This intricately detailed miniature Kachina doll is carved from one piece of cottonwood, including the feathers on the top of the head. It measures 4 3/4 inches tall. The base circumference measures 5 1/2 inches.
