Stirrup pot by Joseph Gachupin (Jemez)
Joseph Gachupin was born into the Jemez Pueblo in 1953. He was inspired to work in clay by his wife, Caronline Gachupin and taught how to work with and make natural pigments by his sister-in-law, Emily Tsosie. He is published in Southern Pueblo Pottery 2,000 Artist Biographies and Storytellers and Other Figurative Pottery.
This pot measures 10 3/4 inches tall by 17 1/2 inches in circumference. Diameter measures 4 1/2 inches.
