Sterling Silver/14kt and Turquoise Bracelet by Andrew Redhorse Alvarez (Mescalero Apache) Andrew Redhorse Alvarez is one of the few Mescalero Apache jewelers. Alvarez is known for the use of the finest natural turquoise. As a child, Alvarez watched his Uncle Leandro create handmade silverware. At age 14, he was hired by Nez Pierce promoter Chief George Pierre, a grandson of Chief Joseph. Alvarez made jewelry and helped Chief Pierre with heavy work and at art shows. The experience prepared Alvarez for a long career as an artist. Alvarez has recently been honored as one of 25 American Indian artists at the Philidelphia Museum of Art. This magnificent sterling silver and turquoise bracelet measures 1.5 inches in width by 5.5 inches inside with a 1.0 inch opening.
