Hopi coil baskets are primarily made in Second Mesa, Arizona, from natural fibers and plants that grow in that region. The art of coiling has been used for more than 100 years. The weaving technique consists of using a weft and warp of the same material used in the coiling. Yucca is coiled around the warp with a non-interlocking stitch. This magnificent Coil Plaque measures 7 inches in diameter.
