Inlaid Hummingbird Earrings by Rolanda Haloo (Zuni)
Rolanda Haloo was born in 1956 and has been silversmithing since 1970. She learned the basics of jewelry making from her parents Jake and Lola Pinto Haloo and received more formal training while at St. John's Indian School in Phoenix, Arizona. She sometimes collaborated with her former husband Harlan Coonsis where she worked predominantly on the stone inlay and he did the metalwork. She is the mother and teacher of jeweler Colin Coonsis with whom she has also collaborated.
Each earring measures 1 3/4 inches long, including the silver ear wire, by 7/8 inch wide.
